Festival Information
The festival begins with a gala charity dinner on Thursday evening in support of the event’s official charity, the JAG Foundation, as well as our friends from the Asian based Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, whose team of rugby legends have firmly established themselves as an institution at the Cape Town Tens.
On the same day, the SA Rugby Legends host their annual celebrity charity golf day in the City. This fun event is a great opportunity to take an extra day off work and rub shoulders with past and current Springbok greats in a relaxed and charitable environment, before facing them the next day in the Veteran’s Division of the Tens!
Friday
After registration and a tournament briefing, the rugby action proper begins late morning on Friday down at Hamilton’s Rugby Club, which is set within the wonderful City of Cape Town Green Point Prescient.
All teams play 3 matches on Friday, before the epic Ten’s opening party kicks off in Africa’s biggest beer tent. The Friday evening is traditionally ‘fancy dress’ and the teams compete for the much coveted best dressed award. Local and international bands will entertain the crowd well into the late evening, before the party moves across town to one of the many unofficial Ten’s after parties.
Friday also sees the very important development clinics taking place at the Tens, where local and international rugby legends share their expertise and experience with 100′s of youngsters from around the Western Cape, in support of both the City of Cape Town and JAG rugby programs.
Saturday
After a massive Friday night, the rugby kicks off bright and early on Saturday morning and runs right throughout the day until the finals in the early evening, which are followed by arguably Cape Town’s biggest party of the year! Bigger bands than ever will grace the stage in 2014.
